Sunday BBQ in Oak City

Here are some pictures of our BBQ up Oak City canyon yesterday. It'll probably be the last time we're up there before it warms up again. We had lots of fun and ate good food. Shawn and Meggie
Shawn and Sandi took all of the kids on a hike. I don't think they planned on the whole crew, but eventually every one of the kids except for the smallest ended up following them up the mtn. Shawn carried Meg up the whole way- my arms couldn't have done that! While they were up there they got attacked by a bunch of wasps. We were watching them from below and all of a sudden they were all running around screaming and we couldn't understand why. Of course they were running around screaming, there were wasps stinging them. Good thing they're tuff kids!

Waiting to eat

California Trip - Loooong post

Who knew nine days could go by so fast! I've never been on a vacation that I wasn't ready to come home from, but this time I didn't want it to ever end. I decided I could definitely be a California girl if only I could have decent hair in the humidity! I have the ugliest hair when we go to places on the beach. So I never look cute for any of the pictures! :( Stupid frizzies! Anyway, I'm going to go over each day while we were there and if you get bored or don't want to read it-sorry, just skip ahead. I already have a hard time remembering what we did so I figured if I put it on here I won't be able to forget it.

We left at 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning and drove and drove and drove! Honestly it wasn't that bad. The kids were so good and we stopped in Prim and had breakfast w/ Justin, Mary,Kurt, Shay, Kayden and Brody. Then we headed to Oceanside. We got there at around 3:00. It was so cool, the house was right on the beach the only thing between us and the sand was a one way street. We had an awesome view and got to fall asleep listening to the ocean every night. I definitely want to do this one again.

Monday we just hung out at the beach all day. We did lots of boogie boarding and body surfing, Cory and Kurt tried their best to surf all week long but decided that they should have taken some lessons. It's a lot harder than it looks. I didn't even give it a try because I know if Cory or Kurt can't do it - I definitely won't be able to, so I just stuck w/ the boogie boards.

Tuesday we went to Disneyland. Walker had a blast! I don't think I love Disneyland in August, it's WAY too hot and there were so many stinking people. I was ready to go home after just a few hours, but after it cooled off I decided it was ok and I wasn't going to die of heat stroke. I also realized that I HATE the stupid rides that you get in and ride around in the dark and look at the creepy pictures and listen to the music. I tried to be big and brave-but it still bothered me. How big of a chicken am I? I hated being on those cars alone with Meg. Maybe I'll be big enough next time we go :) I make it sound like I didn't like it - I really did, but I won't be going back anytime soon. I do have to say that Space Mountain is so stinkin' fun!!

Wednesday we woke up went to the beach for the morning and then went to Sea World for the rest of the day. Who knew Seaworld was so cool at night. They change the shows up when it gets dark. It was lots of fun. Meg got her fix of Elmo too. They had a fun 3D movie of Elmo and Meg loves nothing more than "Melmo".

Thursday was our lazy day. Jill and Lamar took Walker back to Disneyland with them. We only planned on one day there and LaMar just couldn't leave Walker behind while they went for a second day. So it was me, Cory, Meg, Kurt, and Shay at the house all day long. I got to read my "Breaking Dawn" book for a long time! I had to be careful taking that book with me, I was afraid I would get too engrossed in it and forget that I was at the beach. I only got in trouble by Cory one time. Cory and Kurt "tried" to surf, then we walked around some shops and just took it easy.

Friday we went down a really cool beach in La Jolla. We saw seals sprawled out on the shore sunbathing. It's more fun to see them out in "wild" rather than at Seaworld. It had a lot of rocks where we could see crabs, little fish, and lots of seashells. I really wanted to see a starfish but never saw any. Walker says this was his favorite place but his favorite thing we did changes every time you ask him.

Saturday we headed back down to La Jolla with more people and did the same thing. It was lots of fun. Then that night Cory and I got to go on a date while Justin and Mary kept our kids. It was fun. We went over to the harbor and ate at a restaurant w/ live singing. Cory got a bucket o' meat! So funny, seriously I've never seen so much meat in one bucket for one person.

Sunday we left the beach house around 10. I hated leaving the ocean behind me. Then we headed to Vegas and played there w/ the kids for the night. And Monday we shopped in St. George for "HOURS" is what Cory would say. He got mad at me because I spent so much time shopping and hardly bought anything. Wouldn't most husbands be happy about that?

The End.

We had so much fun taking pictures with the sunset in the background. Isn't that so cute of Cory and Meg.

We stood in line to meet Mickey forever. But look how cute the picture turned out.

Cory's new love

So, Cory finally won and we bought a boat. I do have to say that it has been so much fun! It's a good toy to have for family time. It seems like we're out on it every spare second we have. It's not so easy when you have an 18 month old though. Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen Cory "GLOW" like he did the first time he took the boat out. He was definitely one happy guy. So, I've had to learn how to drive a boat, back up a trailer, hook the boat to a trailer, and I haven't yet to learn to drive the boat onto the trailer-I'm not ready for that one. Driving the boat freaks me out! I don't want to kill us all.

We went out on Saturday with Cory's little bro Brett and his girlfriend Stephanie. I took lots of pictures so sorry if you get sick of them.

Here is Cory happy as could be driving his boat

Had to share this cute one of Walker and dad.
Meg loves riding the tube!
This picture is hilarious! Look at our faces, I think we might have been a little scared.

Me- I didn't want to put a picture of my jump. It would be a little embarrassing compared to Brett and Cory's.
This is one of the first times Stephanie got up and actually rode for a while. Look at her face...so funny.
Walker has gotten brave enough to do flips! I love this picture. Could it have been taken at a better moment?

Happy 4th

I can't get the pictures to do what I want, so you have to look at them while they're in some weird layout. Sorry :)

The things we do to entertain ourselves on a hot day is hilarious! Cory's mom set up a water party in the backyard on the 4th. Anyway, we decided to do an obstacle course and time everyone to see who was the fastest. I lost big time because I couldn't blow the balloon up with the compressor fast enough, and I didn't sit my butt down all the way in the pool fast enough. So, what we had to do was sit in the pool and dump a cup of water on our head, hit one out of three badmitton birdies into the pool, stand in the shark pool and let the water spray us for five seconds, run around the pole three times, run through the garden on the steps, sit on the chair, swing into the pool from the rope swing, jump on the doghouse, jump through the tree, dive under the pole above the pool and pop a balloon w/ the compressor. I took tons of pictures and I posted the funniest one of everyone on here.

Needless to say we had lots of fun. Our weekend was crazy, Justin, Mary, and the boys, and Kurt and Shay came down. They played in a soccer tournament, in a tennis tournament, took the boat out to the "rez", went to the parade, the park, and watched and lit lots of fireworks. I was a fun and very tiring weekend. Oh, Cory had to speak at a baptism during all of that too. Oh, and don't forget fight night either!

Camping

Every year my family (my mom, dad, brother, sis's and their families) go camping. We always have tons of fun. There are eleven grandkids in all so you can imagine the noise and messes that we get to deal with! I don't know if I've ever seen dirtier kids anywhere in my life.

Walker and Ashlee on Smoke
Here is a picture of Walker before he toppled over into the creek.
Here is a picture of the kids filling up their squirt guns to torture each other! The squirt guns were a great idea- thanks mom!
This is what Cory does best when we're camping!
Meg wasn't too big of a fan of the horses
Meg after a good crash!
We decided to let Meg play in the creek right before we left to go home, we should have thought of it earlier!
I loved this picture of Ashlee, she would ride horses all day every day if we'd let her.

Pictures of our hike

Stupid, stupid snake that scared the crap out of me! He looks bigger than he really was. He was probably only a foot long, and just about as big around as a sharpie marker, but still SCARY. And poisonous.
Kurt, Shay, Me, Cory

This is the end of our hike and everyone has feet full of blisters, and dead tired bodies. Would I do it again?
NO WAY!
